How to have the Perfect Bath – Without Breaking the Bank

There is nothing better for many of us than a peaceful, relaxing bath at the end of the day. A bath can be all that you need to lower your stress levels, unwind and get ready for a good night’s sleep. A bath gives you time to think, to have alone time, and even to read a book that you enjoy in peace and tranquillity where you won’t be disturbed. But if your bathroom is not the most peaceful of havens, here are a few ways to make it more relaxing without breaking the bank…

Lighting – You don’t have to spend a lot on installing lots of expensive lighting. If you are aiming for rest and relaxation, the only thing that you really need is candles! Get some in your favourite scents and put them around the room in safe locations before you jump in the bath, and you will be amazed at the difference a bit of low lighting can make. If you are intending to read in the bath of course you may require a few more to enable you to see. Also, remember to blow them out when you are finished!

Décor – Again, you do not have to spend a fortune on re-tiling the entire room. Give the room a good clean, and a lick of pain in a soft, off white shade for a balanced and neutral feel. Mirrors make the room look larger if you feel the room is slightly small and claustrophobic. Close out the outside world with a good roller blind – if you are looking for waterproof roller blinds try sites like UCBlinds. Try to clear the room of any un-necessary clutter – put all children’s toys away in an ottoman and stash away all those bottles of bubble bath and shampoo for a tranquil feeling sanctuary.

Little touches – One of the loveliest things to look forward to when getting out of the bath is a large, soft, fluffy towel waiting for you. This is a worthwhile investment as it will really make your bath experience much more enjoyable. If you have any pieces of artwork, or photographs that make you feel relaxed, why not frame them and add them to the wall? Pictures of oceans, or rivers are a great idea if you are stuck for inspiration, as they keep the room water themed! But really anything that makes you feel more chilled out and relaxed is perfect.
